Culture of large number ignorance in India

India should officially adopt million, billion, trillion to replace unwieldy terms like X Lakh Crores or Y Thousand Crores which all sound the same. These long terms allow governments/media to say things which people find hard to cross check without counting zeroes.

Slowly a culture of large number ignorance builds up which allows a lot of false claims go uncontested by common people as their minds don't have enough extra space to remember the last number and compare with the current one being thrown at them.

For e.g. India's annual tax collection (direct + indirect) is around 20 to 30 Trillion INR. In other words 20 Lakh Crore to 30 Lakh Crore. Which one sounds better?
