There is a certain authenticity about Vishal Bhardwaj's works based in
Muslim milieu - Maqbool and Haider. These 2 are the works which stay honest from the beginning to the end. Whereas his other hyped works -
Omkara, Saat Khoon Maaf and Kaminey just fall apart due to incoherence
resulting from his discomfort with non-Muslim milieu.
I would hazard a guess here that growing up in UP he could observe the
Muslim society and its mannerisms a lot more closely and was enchanted
by it.
